- BMW Engines V10: With ten cylinders in a V-arrangement and 5 litres of displacement, engines in the S85 series achieve an output of 507 hp at 520 Nm. With four overhead camshafts and electronic individual throttle control, this naturally aspirated V10 engine from BMW is considered a pioneer of highly developed drive technology. The V10 can be found in the BMW M5 and in the BMW M6.
- V12 BMW engine: With the N74 engine, BMW has its own engine series with twelve cylinders. The engine is equipped with a bi-exhaust turbocharger, variable valve timing and direct petrol injection. The engine is installed in the 7 Series BMW M760Li xDrive as well as in various vehicles from Rolls-Royce.
BMW Diesel
- In-line four-cylinder turbo engines: Diesel engines with four cylinders in line, such as the B47 engine type, have a long tradition at BMW. The turbocharged B47 engines have two balancer shafts and can be found in the BMW X4, among others, but also in the Mini.
- Turbo in-line six-cylinder: Diesel engines with six cylinders in line make up the BMW B57 engine series. The common-rail direct-injection engines with four-valve technology can be found in models such as the BMW X5 or the 7 Series.
- V8 turbodiesel engines: BMW is also no stranger to the turbocharged V8 diesel engine. As an M67 engine type, it was installed in the BMW E38 and the BMW E65, among others.
- Turbo in-line three-cylinder: The B37 engine series includes in-line three-cylinder diesel engines with different power outputs and common rail injection. The turbo engines can be found, for example, in the BMW 1 Series or 2 Series Active Tourer.
BMW electric engines

- BMW i3 electric drive: hybrid excited synchronous motor with 125 kW output in the BMW i3 and with 135 kW in the BMW i3s.
- BMW eDrive40: separately excited synchronous motor for the BMW i4 with 250 kW output.

- BMW 116i: BMW 1 Series 3-cylinder in-line engine with 1.5 litre displacement. The petrol engine with turbocharger produces 109 hp and is installed as the basic engine in smaller BMWs.

- BMW 220i: 2 Series Coupé standard engine with 184 hp line and Steptronic. 4-cylinder in-line engine with turbocharging and 2.0 litres displacement.
- 2.0L 220d : BMW 2 Series Gran Tourer diesel in-line engine with 190 hp output and 400 Nm torque. Powerful four-cylinder 220d diesel in combination with Steptronic transmission.
- BMW 320e: Plug-in hybrid system in the BMW 3 Series model such as the 320e Touring. Hybrid drive with 2.0-litre four-cylinder in-line engine and 204 hp system output.
- BMW 430i: Modern 4 Series engine concept as a petrol engine with four cylinders and 2.0 litre displacement. The engine with variable valve control produces 245 hp in the BMW 430i Gran Coupé.
- BMW 840i: BMW engines as 6-cylinder 3.0 litre petrol in-line version. Turbocharging with intercooling and variable valve timing provide 333 hp performance in the BMW 840i Coupé.
- BMW V8 750i: Eight-cylinder 4.4L bi-turbo engine concept. Petrol engine with turbo, 530 hp engine output and 750 Nm for the BMW 750i xDrive Sedan.
- BMW xDrive40d: Mild hybrid system with 3.0 litre 6-cylinder diesel in-line engine. Produces 340 hp via all-wheel drive with a maximum of 700 Nm in the BMW X7 xDrive40d.
- BMW i3 Electric: i3 electric drive with 125 kW (170 hp) and 250 Nm. Hybrid-excited synchronous motor developed in-house at BMW for electric models.
