Nissan Automatic Transmission
- Nissan Xtronic CVT transmission: The term Xtronic is used by Nissan to describe automatic transmissions that are designed as continuously variable CVT transmissions. This type of transmission is extremely popular in Japan and the USA, and enables efficient operation and optimum engine performance. The decoupling of acceleration and engine speed associated with the continuously variable transmission takes some getting used to for many drivers, so the Nissan Qashqai model, for example, has simulated gear selection. The Xtronic CVT transmission is also available as an option in the Nissan Micra.
- Nissan DCT Dual Clutch Transmission: Nissan DCT transmissions are automatic transmissions designed as dual clutch transmissions. With this type of transmission, gear changes take place without interrupting traction. In addition, the DCT transmission enables better acceleration values with lower fuel consumption compared to other automatic transmissions. This is made possible by the special design of the gearbox with two internal clutches, one of which is responsible for each half of the gearbox. The DCT dual-clutch transmissions can be found, for example, in the Nissan X-Trail, the Nissan Juke and optionally in the Nissan Primastar van.
- Nissan torque converter automatic: Classic automatic transmissions with torque converters are also found in some Nissan models. This low-wear type of automatic works without traction interruption and offers a high level of driving comfort. Especially for cars with a lot of power and particularly stressed vehicle types, the torque converter automatic is the transmission type of choice for Nissan. For example, this type of automatic transmission can be found in the Nissan Navara, the Nissan Pathfinder or even the Nissan Murano Diesel. Nissan electric cars such as the Nissan Ariya, the Nissan Leaf or the Nissan e-NV200 have transmissions with only one gear and a fixed ratio.
